What’s in the new boxes?
The new and upcoming Port Royal Faction Starter boxes each are themed after one of the seven factions. Within each, players will find a prebuilt crew with a number of one-piece resin models, a prebuilt starting company with quick-reference card for all that faction’s keywords and a special Plunder Token themed after the faction in question! These starter boxes offer a great way to get started in Port Royal without having to build any models and at a cheaper price point, if you have a specific faction in mind! All you need is a physical or pdf copy of the rules. Each box is also a great buy for those looking to expand from the Core Set, as each has a distinct Plunder Token and some unique faction flavor – especially for the Maroons and Caribs, which are harder to build from the Core Box’s multipart plastics. These boxes will retail for $45 and are available now!
Below you will find a description of each of the models within each box and a preview image of each’s components – many of which feature brand new models to Firelock’s lineup!
“When a king brands us pirates, he doesn’t mean to make us adversaries. He doesn’t mean to make us criminals. He means to make us monsters.” -Flint

Conclusion
These Port Royal faction boxes offer another option for buying into the game and getting to the table immediately with your friends — with starting crews that are prebuilt it removes the initial barrier of list building with one piece models removing the need to build models! One could feasibly buy a box and get the models on the table within minutes to learn or start a campaign. I would be interested in seeing an event where players each purchase a box and start a campaign – similar in style to events run for reconstructed decks in competitive card games. I know that I will be collecting a set of the special plunder tokens as well – as this is the only way to obtain these sculpts!
